2 vintage surf movies made by our own Joe Alber. Filmed in the 70’s and early 80’s.

L.A. Films presents the 2007 remastered DVD release of “Flowing Free” ©1980 (68 min.) and “Sun Waves” ©1982 (37 min.)

“Flowing Free” by Joe Alber was filmed from 1976-79 and relates the flow of surfing, skateboarding, and skiing. It takes you to Hawaii, the Caribbean, the Hamptons, N.Y. and Windham Mt. N.Y. It contains vintage footage of Shaun Tompson, Ken Bradshaw, Buttons, Michael Ho, Larry Berttleman, Dan Flecky, Lynn Boyer, Margo Oberg and others. Local eastern Long Island surfers and skaters such as the late Rick Raz Rasmussen, Michael Schermeyer, the late Eric Penny, Joe Fuchs, Tyler Calloway, Luke Moore, John Tesar, freestyle skier Tim Reeves and more. Original reggae music by Full Hand and the title song by Bob Friday.

“Sun Waves” by Joe Alber was filmed from 1979-82. It captures radical surfing in the Hamptons, Hawaii, and Barbados. It features surfers Buttons, Mark Liddle, Charlie Smith, the late Eric Penny, Tyler Calloway, Michael Schwermeyer, Joe Fuchs, Brendon and Billl McGill, Johnny Matthews, Edmund Rat Race Oliver, skater Chris Freeman and many others. The totally original soundtrack features reggae and rock by Full Hand, A Square, and others.
